WestRiver Connections has been a consulting firm since 2015. Much of our success has been driven by having a strong customer service focus approach to our clients and their customers. With over 15 years of events and operations management experience, the course that has worked best for our clients is to see a need and provide the best service to provide results.
Clients range in size from a few to several hundred employees. We bring a cost-effective alternative to doing business. We can assist in running the day to day operations, producing conferences, provide relevant speakers, assist in facilitation and contract negotiations.
The WestRiver name comes from the plains of South Dakota and the Rosebud Sioux Indian Tribe. We are a Native American Owned, Economically Disadvantaged, Woman-Owned Small Business that is self-certified with the Small Business Administration (SBA).
A passion for customer service is what fuels Julia Jones’ approach to managing associations and non-profit organizations. For more than 15 years, her dedication to operations and project management, coupled with fundraising expertise, have helped her customers gain new ground and grow exponentially.
A 2002 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Aviation Institute, Mrs. Jones earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Aviation Administration. She obtained her pilot certificate in 2000 while also working as a customer service representative at a local Fixed Base Operator (FBO) in Omaha, NE. Additionally, she worked with the NASA Nebraska Space Grant program eventually going on to work for another FBO in the state.
In 2007, Mrs. Jones relocated to the Washington DC area where she continued her career in aviation management with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) in Frederick, MD. While at AOPA, she leveraged her experience in program management and fundraising to help grow the AOPA Foundation Annual Donor Program by 45 percent.
By 2013, Mrs. Jones decided to take a small sabbatical from her career in the general aviation community in order to help support her increasingly busy family. This resulted in the creation of the StepMoms Association, a support organization for other StepMoms where they can find resources and a friendly supportive face to help make stressful days for manageable blended families. This grass roots organization now has 3 chapters in the DMV and served as the foundation for Mrs. Jones to start WestRiver Connections.
Since 2015, WestRiver Connections has been providing support to non-profit organizations and for-profit businesses across the country with the goal of development and growth through relationships, hard work and customer service. As the Executive Director of Alpha Eta Rho, Professional Aviation Fraternity, she has increased membership, added chapters and produced three national conferences. Mrs. Jones has expanded the scholarship program, added exhibitors to the conference, increased sponsorships and created partnerships with other industry leaders.
She was recently awarded the 2020 College of Public Affairs and Community Services (CPACS) Distinguished Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service. During her free time, she enjoys golfing with her husband and traveling.
Mrs. Jones is a member of the following organizations:
American Society of Association Executives (ASAE)
